Intimate Civil Wedding in Albufeira, Portugal
A quiet civil wedding on the Algarve coast — the first of ten days a couple from Berlin spent in Albufeira, half wedding, half holiday.

About This Story
The ceremony was in Albufeira's old town, right past the parish church — white walls, narrow streets, light that bounces off every surface and somehow still looks soft. Her dress was from Bridal Stories, simple enough to walk through cobblestones in, which she did, straight after signing, past the church and down toward the sea.
Late afternoon, we moved to the cliffs above the Atlantic — the hour the Algarve does best, everything turning amber, no rush to be anywhere. On the way back, in a row of palm trees, he spun her around for no particular reason and I happened to have the camera up. I stayed back more than usual that day. Some days do not need much from me.
This was day one of ten, the rest spent at Marriott Residences Salgados Resort down the coast. Not everyone is relaxed about having a camera around all day, and that is fair. By the end of the week, having a camera around had stopped feeling unusual, and when he saw the gallery, he kept going back to it.
